Mathamagic

Mathamagic is a highly interactive Science Theatre Show and accompanying suite of hands-on maths exhibits - a unique experience in practical mathematics. The event offers pupils opportunities to participate in activities and games investigating prime numbers, topology, probability, binary, capacity and more.


Energy
4 - 7 November 2008
Explore the concept of energy in the interactive presentation in the Science Theatre. Attractive demonstrations investigate how energy is transferred, conserved and stored.


Magic of Chemistry
25 - 28 November 2008
Spectacular demonstrations that illustrate concepts such as reactivity, oxidation, and change of state and exothermic reactions are used in this lively interactive presentation. The theme uses the gases of the air as a thread to explore the terms ‘element’, ‘mixture’ and ‘compound’.


Forces
12 - 22 May 2009
This show is pitched at year seven as an introduction to forces at KS3, covering many of the same topics as the KS2 show but at a higher level. It focuses on pushing and pulling forces, friction, measuring and interpreting forces, gravity, electromagnetism, pressure, rotational forces and the difference between mass and weight.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

KS4. AS & A Level

DABBLING WITH DNA: KS4
1 - 18 July 08
This exciting workshop will provide an opportunity for students to carry out techniques to isolate DNA from plant cells. Activities include observation of human chromosomes using microscopy and the examination of the relationship between genes and proteins.
